Scouting for Food 2007
In our first several years, Pack 776 has gotten off to a great start. We have started a strong Pack, learned all kinds of things, and had a great time doing it. We have also started some new traditions…one of these is our “Scouting for Food” drive where we have enjoyed tremendous success collecting food to benefit the Woodlawn Food Bank. Let’s see if we can collect record amounts of food this year. Please work with your son to collect as many non-perishable food items as you can between now and the next Pack meeting on December 17th. These items will be weighed at the meeting and the Scout who brings in the most pounds of food, as well as the den that collects the highest average weight (total pounds of food/# of boys in den) will be recognized. It’s a lot of fun so get out there and “Scout for Food”! A few tips: You can make copies of the note below or make one of your own. One wise family put a picture of their son in his Cub Scout uniform on the note and we could barely weigh all the food he brought in! Who can resist a man in uniform? Once you’ve gotten your note together, put a copy in your neighbor’s mailboxes, being sure to let them know when you’ll return to collect then bring that food to the December Pack meeting. Please put the food in bags or boxes that are clearly marked with your son’s name and Den Number. We will be using regular household scales so please consider this when packing your collected food – grocery bags and small boxes work best. If you have any questions or can volunteer to help weigh or deliver the collected food, please call Kellie Taylor at 298-0021 or e-mail at Kell123@bellsouth.net.
Scouting for Food Hi! My name is ______________. I am a Cub Scout from Pack 776 and your Liberty Park neighbor. I am collecting food on behalf of our Pack to benefit the Woodlawn Food Bank. We are asking for donations of non-perishable food items such as canned fruits and vegetables, baking supplies (flour, sugar, cake mix, cooking oil, etc) cereals, pasta, canned or bottled sauces, boxed meals (macaroni and cheese, rice, instant potatoes), baby food or other like items. The families that benefit from the “Scouting for Food” project will appreciate anything you can give during this holiday season --- and so will I! I will be returning to collect food you may donate on _____________________, after I come home from school. Please leave your donations on your front porch. Remember, any item you give will be greatly appreciated. Thank you for helping me to fulfill my Cub Scout Promise to “help other people”. |
