Liberty Park Baptist Church - A Family of Faith
Dear
Friend,
Welcome to the Liberty Park Baptist Church website! I hope
that you will find this site helpful and useful for discovering more about the
work that God is doing at LPBC. I am both grateful and humbled as I see God
working in the lives of individuals through this church to transform them into
who He wants them to be.
Here at LPBC, we believe that God’s desire is to know
every person intimately through a relationship with Jesus Christ. As a group of
believers, our desire is to develop that intimacy with God through exciting
times of worship, during which we praise God using both contemporary worship
music and the time-honored songs that have blessed the faithful for
generations. While people often ask, “Are you contemporary, or are you
traditional?” our best answer is that we are simply worshipers, and we feel free
to worship God in many ways, employing the best of yesterday, today and
tomorrow. In our worship services, you will also hear preaching straight from
God’s Word that directs us to the heart of God and applies eternal, biblical
truths to our lives today. We also seek intimacy with God through a strong
focus on individual and corporate prayer, encouraging people to spend time alone
with God and to join with God’s people in calling out to Him together.
We also believe that God wants each of us to grow
stronger and deeper in our walk of faith. That’s why we offer multiple
opportunities for Christian growth. One such opportunity is our Sunday morning
Bible study and fellowship time, or Sunday School, during which we meet together
in small groups to learn from God’s Word and build relationships. We also offer
Life Transformation Classes that deal with various areas of life, helping us to
grow stronger in our Christian walk. In addition, we are constantly developing
new ministries to help and encourage each other to grow in Christ.
Another belief we hold dear is that God calls us as believers
to go and tell others about the salvation found in Jesus Christ. We
believe what Jesus said about Himself in John 14:6 – “I am the way and the truth
and the life. No one comes to the Father but through me.” Therefore, we want
to introduce you to Jesus. That’s why you’ll hear God’s Word preached and
taught here, because it contains the truth of God’s good news that His salvation
is available to anyone who trusts in Him. We encourage everyone who’s a part of
LPBC to be involved in “going” by living their faith, by telling others about
salvation in Jesus Christ and by participating in a variety of outreach and
missions activities, from Sunday afternoon outreach to mission projects at home
and abroad.
I hope you’ll join us soon at LPBC, where we make it our goal
to know Christ, to grow in Christ and to go with Christ.
In Christ,
Scott Guffin, Ph.D.
