These Three Abide: Faith

1 Corinthians 13:13; Hebrews 11:6  |  Nate French, Associate Pastor  |  July 12, 2026

13 So now faith, hope, and love abide, these three; but the greatest of these is love.

– 1 Corinthians 13:13 ESV

1. Faith abides.

6 And without faith it is impossible to please him, for whoever would draw near to God must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who seek him.

– Hebrews 11:6 ESV

2. Faith is believing that God exists.

19 You believe that God is one; you do well. Even the demons believe – and shudder!

James 2:19 ESV

3. Faith is believing that God rewards those who seek Him.

33 But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.

Matthew 6:33 ESV

7 Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. 8 For everyone who asks receives, and the one who seeks finds, and to the one who knocks it will be opened. 9 Or which one of you, if his son asks him for bread, will give him a stone? 10 Or if he asks for a fish, will give him a serpent? 11 If you then, who are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask him!

Matthew 7:7-11 ESV

4. By faith, we draw near to God.

8 Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded.

James 4:8 ESV

5. Faith pleases God.
