Join Us On The National Day of Prayer
Thursday, May 1, 2008 is the National Day of Prayer.
The National Day of
Prayer was created by an act of Congress and is, therefore, intended for all
peoples of faith to pray to the God of their understanding.
The National Day of Prayer tradition predates the founding of the United States
of America when the Continental Congress issued a proclamation setting aside a
day of prayer in 1775. In 1952, Congress established an annual day of prayer
and, in 1988, that law was amended, designating the National Day of Prayer as
the first Thursday in May. For more information on the
National Day of Prayer click here.
This year Liberty
Park Baptist Church is a National Day of Prayer official event site and will be
holding a special prayer service in the church sanctuary.
This special prayer
service will begin at 12:15 PM and end promptly at 12:45 PM, to allow for as
many as possible to be able to attend during the lunch hour.
A "brown bag" lunch
will be provided free of charge, for those who request them by completing the
request form below.
