Pastor Appreciation Lunch, Sunday, September 21

Our pastor, Scott Guffin, celebrated his 10th anniversary in ministry here at LPBC in June.  In recognition of his faithfulness to teach God’s Word, to minister to us in our joys and sorrows, and his constant admonition that we are to go and share the Gospel in our Jerusalem and beyond, we want to honor Scott and Beth with a churchwide appreciation luncheon after the worship service on September 21.
The church will provide the meat, drinks, plates, and utensils, but we are asking families to help by providing the sides and desserts for the meal.  In order to ensure that we have a good variety of sides and desserts for lunch, the adult Sunday School classes have each been assigned different types of items to bring.  Sign up sheets detailing these assignments can be found in your Sunday School box this Sunday morning.  Please pass the sheet around in your class this Sunday morning and encourage your group members to sign up.  After they have signed up, please return the sign up sheets to the boxes, so we can keep up with what we have and what we need.  (For Preschool, Children’s, and Student Teachers - If you would like to sign up to help by providing a side or dessert, you may sign up in the adult class you are most closely tied to or by contacting Susie Chambliss or Diane Thomas

LPBC Task Force Recommendations

We appreciate your attendance at our town hall this past Sunday afternoon, August 17, 2014, to discuss the recommendations of the Church Needs Task Force.
If you were not able to attend the town hall, written copies of the recommendations are available in the church office for your review and consideration.
In addition, we do have copies of the Auxano presentation that has been presented to the Task Force, the Deacons and the Church Council on several different occasions. If you are interested in seeing the presentation materials and/or getting the list of references, including the specific references we have checked, please send an email to Thomas Minor.

Children's Ministry - Interim Coordinators Update

In the past few weeks, Pastor Scott and Nate have worked to identify two individuals to help to coordinate different aspects of the Children's Ministry during this interim period.  These individuals were submitted to and approved by the Personnel Committee.  They are:
•    Jessica Brasher - Jessica will serve as our Interim Child Care Coordinator.  In this role, she will be responsible for scheduling and supervising child care for Sunday mornings and Wednesday evenings, and for scheduling child care for other church events.  Having served in our Children's Ministry for several years now, Jessica is well known to our parents with preschoolers and has showed herself to be trustworthy, reliable, and loving in her interactions with children.
•    Steven Ray - Steven will serve as our Interim Children's Ministry Coordinator.  In this role, Steven will be responsible for working with our Children's Ministry leaders and volunteers to plan, coordinate, and implement events and activities for our children.  He will also work to support our AWANA and Sunday school leaders and be the point person for Children's Ministry communications.  Many of you know Steven because he served our church faithfully for two years in the role of Interim Minister of Music.  During those two years, Steven showed initiative, faithfulness, administrative ability, and forethought.
Nate will work closely with both Jessica and Steven in the coming days as they take on these roles.  Please be in prayer for them as they begin these new roles.  Also, when you can, please be available to help when they call.  In order for our Children's Ministry to thrive during this interim period, it will be necessary for each of us to lend a hand and our gifts to this ministry.

Children's Minister Search Committee Update

The Children's Ministry Search Committee has been finalized.  Those who have agreed to serve are:  Darren Bayne, chair; Joy Brunson, Paige Lehane, Jessica Prescott, and Diane Watkins.  Please include them in your daily prayers as they begin their work immediately to find the person that God has chosen to be the Children's Minister.

A Thank You

Eunice Martin would like to thank everyone for the outpouring of love and concern shown to her and George following her recent surgery.  They appreciate so much the cards, flowers, food and prayers.  Eunice hopes to return to church Sunday, September 14.
